Inclusion & Belonging Committee
Striving to create a welcoming environment where all employees feel comfortable sharing and celebrating what matters to them.
Our story
The Kite Factory’s Inclusion & Belonging Committee was officially established in 2022, consisting of a handful of volunteers across various seniority levels within the agency. Inspired by, and taking advice from, individual membership to industry networks such as Media For All or Bloom, our Employment Resource Group (ERG) was created. We were keen to have a forum within The Kite Factory for diverse voices to be heard and for us to build on the positive steps we had already taken as an agency over the previous few years, ensuring that diversity and inclusion continued to remain a clear pillar of our growth strategy.
Core initiatives
-
Hosts a range of stand-out events
From Diwali to Lunar New Year, South Asian Heritage Month to Eid and Black History Month, the committee hosts many events throughout the year to celebrate religious and cultural celebrations, encouraging the wider agency to suggest and participate in the events that matter to them.
-
Provides company-wide training
To ensure fair recruitment practices, inclusive hiring training is offered to all hiring managers. For ongoing learning, our partners at We Are Utopia host regular sessions on allyship, neurodiversity, bias mitigation, cultural intelligence, and more. Additionally, a 'Diversity Spotlight' segment in our fortnightly meetings highlights D&I efforts within the company and media.
-
Leads internal TKF networks
The committee runs two internal networks: Female Flyers and the TKF Parents Network. Female Flyers, which is open to all, empowers women with resources and networking opportunities through quarterly events, while the TKF Parents Network provides a space for parents to share experiences and discuss balancing work and family life.
-
Champions mental health
To actively remove the stigma around mental health, the committee hosts panels where SLT members open up about their experiences. Additionally, as an agency, we provide dedicated Mental Health First Aiders to ensure employees have access to support and a safe space when needed.
The Kite Factory’s Inclusion & Belonging Committee aims to make sure that everyone in the agency feels comfortable sharing and celebrating the things that mean a lot to them with their colleagues. We encourage anyone to approach us if they would like to host an event, and we’ll make sure they get the support and platform to do so.
